Bagel Recipe

PIES AND TACOS

This classic bagel recipe yields chewy, golden bagels with a crispy crust and soft interior.

Mix warm water and syrup, sprinkle yeast on top, and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Stir flour and salt into the yeast mixture until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a clean surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

After the first rise, divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each into a smooth ball by cupping your hand and pulling it toward you.

To shape the bagels, poke a hole in the dough ball, stretch it to 1.5–2 inches, then roll it in your hands to smooth it out.

After boiling for a minute, brush bagels with egg white and top with your choice of seasoning or cheese.

Let the bagels cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy them plain, toasted, or topped with cream cheese, butter, or your favorite spread.

Perfect for any meal, these bagels are simple and customizable.
