German Chocolate Brownies

PIES AND TACOS

Nutty, chocolatey, and chewy in every bite.

Whisk the melted chocolate and sugar until combined. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each. Stir in vanilla with the last egg.

Sift in flour, cocoa, and salt. Mix just until combined. Fold in chocolate chips. Pour into the pan, smooth the top, and bake. Center should be slightly underbaked.

While brownies bake, beat butter until fluffy. Add brown sugar and beat again. Mix in eggs one at a time, then flour. Slowly add evaporated milk on low speed.

It may look a little separated at first—that’s okay. Stir in the vanilla, then fold in the chopped pecans and coconut flakes.

Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 25 to 35 minutes, or until the top is golden and set.

These homemade brownies take inspiration from German chocolate cake but bring the decadence to a whole new level.

These bars are elegant enough for a dinner party.
