Yay!

Big thanks to the sweet Olivia, over at That Green Olive, for this nomination!

I was overjoyed that an awesome content creator such as Olivia, who has stunning photography and beautiful recipes, would nominate little old me for this super duper cool award!

Let’s get it!

What is a Liebster Award?

Liebster Award is an award given to bloggers by other bloggers. It’s kind of like a chain of love and kindness, where you can show support to your fellow beginner bloggers.

It’s a way to be discovered and also connect to other bloggers. And let’s face it, what’s more important in this blogging community than connecting and supporting?

I thought this award was the best idea ever, because if you know a little bit about me, you know I am all about helping each other and growing together in this beautiful community we are a part of!

You’ve been nominated!

Now what?

So if you’ve been nominated for this award, you have a few steps to take in case you’d like to accept this nomination

  • You must write a Liebster Award post.
  • Thank your nominator and tell everyone why they’re awesome! (Hey, Olivia, you’re awesome!)

If you’ve been nominated, you have until dec 25th 2018 to write your nomination post.

That Green Olive

I met Olivia, from That Green Olive, on instagram. I immediately fell in love with her photography.

Olivia’s feed is one of those that catches your eye and makes you stop what you’re doing to scroll down through all of her beautiful pictures.

And you wouldn’t even believe she is only 15 years old. She could be a professional food photographer as far as anyone’s concerned.

Olivia posts plant-based recipes, with stunning photos and clever writing.

Have I mentioned her pictures are unbelievable??

And not only that, she is a consistent, solid, amazing content creator!

Thank you so much, Olivia, I am truly honored to be accepting this nomination from you.

My favorite recipe by her is a Peanut Butter Chunk Banana Bread, that I made for a celiac friend, who was in heaven! I remember reading her Instagram post about these peanut butter chunks in a delicious banana bread and couldn’t wait to check out this recipe that absolutely did not disappoint!

Now let’s get to Olivia’s questions!

What is your favourite style of music (also give a favourite artist and song if you’re feeling good!)

Rock. I think if someone told me I had to pick only one band that I’d have to listen to everyday of my life forever til the end of times, I’d pick Pink Floyd. So does that make them my favorite band?

My dad will be so proud of this answer, btw! Check out my son, Luke, wearing a Pink Floyd shirt!! He’s had several since he was born!

Who are your absolute blogging inspirations (bloggers or social media inspirations)?

I fell in love with blogging because of Smitten Kitchen, as probably a lot of others have too. And, as I joined instagram and started to see beautiful photos by amazing photographers such as Bea Lubas, Dennis Prescott, Brooke Lark, I was hooked. I used to cook beautiful meals and bake delicious desserts, but my phone pictures were just awful and didn’t do justice to all the work and love I’d put into those recipes I created. I joined a facebook group created by Brooke Lark and that was really the biggest push for me to create my blog and improve my photography.

Pancakes or waffles?

Pancakes!! Blueberry ones!!

Tell me about one hobby of yours and why you love it so much!

Cooking is my ultimate hobby. The kitchen is my sacred space. It’s where I feel free and comfortable to make mistakes and create. I’ve always struggled with self-esteem issues, but when I’m cooking, I feel confident and positive that I can succeed and create wonderful things.

What is your life motto?

Never be daunted.

There’s nothing to be scared of. Just go for it! Make things happen! You have nothing to lose. Be brave. Be bold. Take risks! And if you fail, try again! It may sound like cliche advice but in practice, this is really really hard.

Name at least three things that happened today that you’re grateful for!

I got to make a beautiful cake!

My sister and dad are visiting from Brazil and I get to spend time with them.

My son ate the beautiful cake I made and he loved it!

What are you known for?

I’m known for cooking for everyone!

If you were a spice, which one would you be? Explain why!

Nutmeg! Nutmeg is pungent and sweet, yet its flavor profile bends beautifully depending on what you sprinkle it over.

Spill the beans on your most embarrassing moment!

Probably the day when I was carrying a tray of drinks at my waitressing job and dropped a cup full of soda off the tray. The cup fell standing up and splashed all over a family sitting at a table nearby. Oooops!

What is the ultimate dream for your blog? What do you want to get out of it?

My ultimate dream for my blog is to have it be my main income source. I guess that’s probably one of my dreams for Pies and Tacos. My ultimate dream is probably to be known and recognized as a great baker, cook, recipe developer and food photographer, which are the things I most love doing in my life.
